CLIENT OVERVIEW
The Carroll Hospital Foundation Founders Circle recognizes individuals and businesses who give annual gifts to the Foundation or to Carroll Hospice. Each
year, the Founders Circle dinner honors members
and individuals who have demonstrated their ongoing support toward improving the health and livelihood of
the community.
PROJECT LEADERSHIP
This particular year, the economy was in trouble, donations were down and I was challenged to come up with a classically elegant, yet cost-effective invitation. Through illustration, lovely design, typography and a unified color theme, I knew we could create quality and class, without spending too much money on bells and whistles. To keep design hours to a minimum, I suggested using a stock illustration that I would fine-tune to make our own and use production techniques that would aid in keeping costs low. The art director and client readily accepted my idea.
DESIGN PROCESS NOTES
While thinking of visuals, I kept coming back to the peacock, a beautiful creature often used to convey sophistication and elegance. Since the Foundation is very conservative, I manipulated the stock illustration to keep the peacock's line simple and clean. The subtle curves of its shape helped to visually convey the circle of the Founders Circle, the symbol of its value as a philanthropic entity. I used a sleek royal blue as my dominant color and sophisticated fonts. While the powerful blue gave the invitation drama, I used a softer blue and tan to offset and complement the deep tone.
AUDIENCE RESPONSE
The Foundation was very pleased with the cost savings we helped them achieve and received many kudos on the look of their invitations. In addition, they experienced high attendance to this premiere event.
